A short introduction to Pride in Hull
Pride in Hull is an annual event, with the aim of providing a platform for every part of Hull and East Yorkshire’s LGBT+ community in order to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues.
Our annual Parade through the heart of the city centre allows our community to be visible and show the city what we have achieved, how far we have come, what is still needed, but also to show the city we have pride in the place we live.
Pride is inclusive of people from every race and faith, whether disabled or able-bodied, all sexualities and genders. The event, and the organisation as a whole is run entirely by volunteers, led by a board of trustees known as Hull LGBT+ Community Pride.
The organisation came together in 2014 to find a way to deliver a Pride event that Hull as a city deserves, one that really does add merit to the title of City of Culture in 2017. As an organisation, Hull LGBT+ Community Pride holds charitable aims at the core of its beliefs, and has begun the process of becoming a registered charity.
By holding Pride events, the organisation hopes to campaign for equality and challenge discrimination by creating opportunities for engagement while celebrating LGBT+ life.
