This Pride season the Pride in Hull team are inviting budding stand-up comics to attend a comedy workshop before putting on their own showcase, alongside professional comedians, at Kardomah94 in Alfred Gelder Street, Hull.
The workshop will take place on Sunday 16 July and will be facilitated by The Art of Comedy, whose professional comedy trainers will assist you by nurturing your talents to write your own material and give you the skills to perform it at the showcase.
Trainers at the workshop will be Dave Gibson who is both a successful stand-up comic and a comedy writer and director and Andy Train, a comedy entertainer who completed a critically acclaimed run at The Edinburgh Festival and was the first act to have a four-night sell-out run at the Hull Comedy Festival.
Danielle Oliver, Pride in Hull Trustee and organizer of the event, said:
“We’re encouraging everyone who has ever wanted to experience the rush of entertaining a crowd of people to take part. Whether you regularly have your friends in stitches or you struggle to deliver a punch-line, the workshop will give you the skills you need to get up on stage and make people laugh.”
Topics covered at the workshop will include confidence in comedy, stage craft and the basics of comedy writing, along with one-to-one tuition from the tutors.
The showcase will take place at Kardomah94 on Wednesday 26 July and tickets cost £6.50. To register your interest in attending the event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are only 20 places available on this workshop, so ensure you book early to avoid disappointment by emailing email@example.com to reserve your place or for more information. The suggested minimum donation for taking part in the workshop and showcase is £50.
