Pride in Hull welcomes latest corporate sponsor – BP Chemicals

Pride in Hull 2017 is delighted to announce that BP have pledged their support by becoming the latest corporate sponsor of the event. The week-long celebration of equality, diversity and LGBT+ culture is planned to be bigger than ever in 2017 as event organisers aim to create a programme that appeals to all as part of the ‘through the decades’ theme. Events range from the traditional main stage focused celebration on Saturday 22 July, through to a film festival, a comedy festival, a photographic exhibition and much more still to be announced. Danielle Grace-Oliver, fundraising trustee from Pride in Hull said:

“We’re very pleased to welcome BP as our latest sponsor. As an internationally recognised brand, choosing to support a pride event shows how far our society has come. BP’s support demonstrates positive commitment to equality and diversity and their own LGBT+ colleagues and employees. “We have grand plans for our programme in 2017 to live up to the level of expectation placed on the city during its year as UK City of Culture and our reign as UK Pride. We couldn’t achieve it without the generous support of our sponsors who make it possible.

Victor Alvarado, plant manager at BP Hull said:

“We are looking forward to celebrating Pride in Hull and we are proud to be supporting the event. Within our team, we know that creating an inclusive environment for all helps motivate, develop and retain people, ensuring the best people are in the right place doing the right job.”

The BP Hull site at Saltend, manufactures acetic acid and acetic anhydride. These acetyls products are key raw materials in food preservation and pharmaceuticals, as well as in Purified Terephthalic Acid for textiles, bottles, packaging and film products. At Hull, BP also hosts one of the principal global research and technology centres for petrochemicals. Danielle continued:

“This year’s Pride in Hull is going to be the place to be this July. In addition to the Pride Day, we have a week-long programme of cultural events to follow. We have some huge announcements to make and are working on lining up even more surprises to make the week memorable, we’re sure you’ll be talking about it for years to come!”
