With eight weeks until Pride in Hull 2018, we are VERY excited to announce the first wave of acts that will be taking to the stage in Queen’s Gardens to strut their stuff.
First to be added to the list is singer, producer, DJ and general electro-pop wunderkind Bright Light Bright Light.
Fresh off the back of a world tour with Erasure and a barnstorming performance at LGBT50’s ‘I Feel Love’ gig, ‘the male Robyn’ is warming up for a headline tour and the release of his fourth album, the follow up to the critically acclaimed technicolour triumph ‘Choreography’. But first he’s excited to be paying a visit to Pride in Hull:
“Hull was one of my favourite shows on the recent Erasure tour, so I am really thrilled to be invited back to play at Pride. It’s a city with some brilliant people, so it’s an honour to be able to bring my ridiculous, pastel-coloured pop to the stage at Pride in Hull”.
It’s no secret that we love Eurovision at Pride in Hull and following a stellar appearance by ESC icon Sonia in 2017, we knew we had to have someone else to bring the boom bang-a-bang to the stage this year.
This year, there was only one person on our wish list.
Fresh from a – shall we say – dramatic performance in Lisbon in May we are absolutely thrilled to welcome this year’s UK representative, SuRie, to Pride in Hull.
As well as playing her Eurovision hit Storm (ALL THE WAY THROUGH THIS TIME, THANK YOU SIR), she’ll be treating us to her new single Taking It Over, along with some Eurovision classics. Douze points!
After winning the nation’s hearts on the sixth series of the X-Factor (seriously ?), Lloyd Daniels has gone on to triumphant performances across the UK in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat as the titular snappy dresser and will be starring alongside Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton in LGBTQ musical Closets this August.
Matt Walton, Chair of Pride in Hull, said:
“We’re thrilled to be able to announce this first wave of performers at this year’s Pride in Hull, we know people have been clamouring to find out who we’ve booked, and we’re confident this year’s line-up will deliver something for everyone.”
Matt continued:
“We’re so excited to be able to bring these acts to Hull and to be presenting them at a free event. It couldn’t happen without the support of our incredible partners or the donations from our attendees. We always say to people that if they enjoyed the day and can afford to do so, please make a donation in one of the many buckets you’ll see on the at Pride – it couldn’t happen without it.”
Also on the line-up are Pride in Hull favourites, including disco diva Soraya Vivienne, local band BPM, The X-Factor’s Samantha Atkinson and David Danville Dancers.
More performers will be ruvealed very soon.
And if you want to be part of Pride too, don’t forget to register for our parade.
