We’re incredibly excited to announce that that drag royalty Alaska 5000 will be sashaying on stage at Pride in Hull on Saturday 20 July.
If you didn’t already know (oh honeyyyy), Alaska 5000 was a runner-up in season 5 of the global TV phenomenon and returned to snatch the crown as the winner of the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race Allstars.
Away from the show, she’s has toured the globe and scored two top five albums on the US Dance Chart.
Andy Hastings, Trustee at Pride in Hull, said: “RuPaul’s Drag race is one of the biggest shows on the planet and a huge cultural phenomenon. The audience response to Courtney Act and Adore Delano playing Pride in Hull in 2017 and 2018 was incredible, so we knew we had to step our game up again and bring a winner to Hull’.
Pride in Hull’s creative director Andy Train continued: “The queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race are so incredibly popular with our audience and they have made drag such a huge part of mainstream culture”.
Alaska 5000 is the first performer to be announced for Pride in Hull 2019. This year’s event will be bigger, bolder, brighter and prouder than ever before, with more announcements to come.
Pride in Hull attracted 50,000 people in 2018, cementing its status as one of Hull’s most iconic events and the biggest free Pride in the UK.
