Pride in Hull is thrilled to announce Reckitt and KCOM as platinum sponsors for this year’s festival, set to take place on 27 July.
This is the second year running that these two Hull-based companies, deeply rooted in our local community, have stepped forward to demonstrate their commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion.
This year’s theme, ‘We’ve Got Pride Down to a T,’ explicitly supports the trans community.
Reckitt, a global leader in health, hygiene, and nutrition products, has been an integral part of Hull’s landscape since 1840. With a rich history spanning 184 years, Reckitt has consistently shown its dedication to creating an inclusive work environment. Lisa Cowling, Reckitt’s LGBTQ+ UK Network Lead, expressed the company’s enthusiasm: “We are excited to sponsor Pride in Hull alongside KCOM. We’re looking forward to extending our commitment again this year, internally to LGBTQ+ Reckitt colleagues and externally to the Hull community.
“At Reckitt, we strive to make our company and wider society an inclusive environment, where everyone is treated fairly and equitably, where every voice is heard and every individual matters.”
Reckitt demonstrates its commitment to LGBTQ+ colleagues through an active LGBTQ+ UK Network, allyship programmes, conscious inclusion training, and year-round LGBTQ+ Pride activities. The company ensures LGBTQ+-inclusive workplace policies and has received external recognition through Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index at a gold-standard across Reckitt’s UK business.
KCOM, our region’s primary broadband provider, has been at the heart of Hull’s telecommunications infrastructure for 120 years. Tim Shaw, KCOM CEO, said: “We’re delighted to be returning as a platinum sponsor for Pride in Hull for the second year running. As a business that’s been at the heart of our local communities for 120 years, we believe in leading from the front when it comes to embracing inclusion and standing with the LGBTQ+ community.”
KCOM is dedicated to creating an environment where every individual feels empowered to express their authentic self, both within the organisation and in the broader community. Their partnership with Pride in Hull extends beyond words to concrete actions that promote equality and acceptance for all.
Both Reckitt and KCOM employ a significant number of local people, making their support for Pride in Hull particularly meaningful. Their platinum sponsorship provides crucial financial backing for the festival and sends a powerful message of acceptance and equality to their employees and the wider community.
Andy Train, Chair of Pride in Hull, enthusiastically welcomed the platinum sponsorship: “Pride in Hull is immensely grateful for the incredible support from Reckitt and KCOM. Their commitment is truly transformative, enabling our dedicated volunteers to create an unforgettable festival that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and promotes love, respect, and unity throughout Hull and beyond. This year’s theme specifically supports the trans community, and our sponsors’ backing amplifies our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive space for all.”
As we prepare for Pride in Hull 2024, we’re grateful for the steadfast support of Reckitt and KCOM. Their commitment to an inclusive society aligns perfectly with our mission to create a vibrant celebration where everyone feels proud of their identity and finds a sense of belonging.
We look forward to seeing everyone on 27th July as we come together to celebrate diversity, promote equality, and showcase the very best of our community. With the backing of our platinum sponsors, Pride in Hull 2024 promises to be an unforgettable event filled with joy, unity, and pride.
