The annual Turner Prize is awarded to a British artist who has made an outstanding contribution to the visual arts over the previous year. The exhibition of the shortlisted artists’ work and the associated award ceremony is usually hosted by Tate Britain.
Working closely with partners including the council, host gallery and the team from the Tate Gallery, I assisted with the announcement of the shortlisted artists, facilitated visits to the exhibition by national arts correspondents and arranged exclusive media access to the gallery during the exhibition.
On the day of the award presentation, I welcomed over 20 national arts journalists at the host gallery for a final viewing of the shortlisted work. I also managed the media centre, providing journalists with a space to file copy immediately after the ceremony and distributed the press release announcing the winner of the prize.
